Available for study in: Compulsory for Year 10 students
Main areas of study:
Students will explore human rights and transforming environments through a range of contexts. Some topics include:
- Understanding human rights (UNDHR)
- Comprehending the impacts of the Holocaust
- Exploring changing environments and how people have responded
In this course you will learn:
- construct an essay of cause and effect
- identify differing perspectives on significant events
- make ethical judgements about peoples actions in the past and how they reflect our own attitudes and values in a modern Aotearoa.
This course provides explicit teaching of literacy - reading for meaning, research, academic writing, source analysis, identifying and exploring different perspectives and critical thinking.
