Course Option Description
Why this course:
This course expands on foundational concepts learnt in Level 1 Physical Education and is designed to lead on to Level 3 Physical Education and Scholarship. Students will gain valuable skills and insight into improving personal physical performance, fitness and interpersonal skills. Students need to be enthusiastic and passionate about learning about the human body and its connection to physical activity and movement. There is a considerable practical component to this course in a variety of contexts. This practical experience is used as a tool for us to apply theoretical concepts from the context of Physical Education.
Course information:
Students will learn about:
- Anatomy, biomechanics and skill learning principles which are applied to improve physical skills and analysis.
- Developing and leading an event for WHS students.
- Developing skills to be socially responsible in physical activity contexts.
- Fitness concepts and exercise physiology concepts in order to create and implement a training programme to improve and enhance personal fitness.
- Group dynamics, interpersonal skills, leadership theories and roles within a team.
Prerequisites
At least 10 Credits in Level 1 PE and 50% or higher in the end of topic test for anatomy and biomechanics. If prerequisites are not met, entry may be granted at the discretion of the HoLA.
Plus Literacy co-requisites.
