Available for study in: Compulsory for Year 9 students.
Main areas of study:
Students will explore government and organisation through the context of wars, laws and policies. Aspects of this course will include, but are not limited to:
- Government decisions and New Zealand's changing roles in the Pacific.
- Cause and effects of past and present volcanic eruptions
In this course you will learn:
- to inquire into and respond to social issues
- identify differing perspectives on significant events
- make ethical judgements about peoples actions in the past and how they reflect our own attitudes and values in a modern Aotearoa.
This course provides explicit teaching of literacy - reading for meaning, research, source analysis, academic writing, identifying and exploring different perspectives and critical thinking.
Methods of assessment:
Multiple choice knowledge assessment and two key skills/processes
