Why this course
This UE-accredited course encourages students to be critical in their thinking, improve their literacy skills including reading, annotating, and academic writing, comprehend complex ideas, and hone their research skills through extensive reading. An increasing number of career pathways are open for people who study History.
This course leads to tertiary studies such as university courses in the areas of history, law, political science, media, journalism, management and administrative systems etc. Additional pathways are also available such as entry levels into various public sectors such as immigration, social and public works.
This course provides students with strong communication and critical thinking skills, which are highly sought after by both the private and public sectors.
Course Information:
This course involves specific areas of study which will include:
- the impact of colonisation in both national and global contexts
- an investigation of the Cambodian Genocide
Research topics for internal assessment provide students with the opportunity to study topics of their own choice, with guidance.
Scholarship
Students with a strong academic background will be offered an opportunity for extension by participating in the scholarship programme outside of their timetabled class.
Prerequisites
Completion of Level 2 History or English with a minimum of 14 credits in either course OR entry at the discretion of the HoLA. Please Note: History is a literacy dependent subject.
