Available for study in: Optional for Year 9 and 10 students.
Main areas of study:
This course provides an opportunity to relish in the disciplines of Geography and History and develop core skills that will provide advancement in the Social Sciences in the senior school. This course explores real-world problems and topical issues engaged in based on collective interest.
In this course you will learn:
Possible Topics may include:
- Impossible places: how human innovation allows us to live in places considered ‘impossible’
- How terrorism has shaped our world today
- Ancient Empires: Creation of modern society
This course provides explicit teaching of literacy - reading for meaning, research, academic writing, identifying and exploring different perspectives and critical thinking.
Methods of assessment:
Multiple choice knowledge assessment and two key processes
