Course Option Description
Why this course:
This course offers an introduction to senior Physical Education for students who have a reasonable level of literacy and wish to learn in through and about movement. Students who are interested in a career in sport performance, coaching or physical training, health sciences or education will gain valuable insights into the why and how of sporting performance and teamwork.
Course information:
This is a course that explores a number of key concepts related to the Physical Education field. Students will learn about:
- Effort, engagement and influences affecting participation in sport and physical activities.
- Evaluating sports performance through the use of anatomy, biomechanics and exercise physiology principles.
- Interpersonal skills and teamwork.
- Skill learning principles and ways to learn and improve physical skills.
- A passion for physical activity and movement.
- An understanding that there is both a theory and practical element needed to be successful in this subject.
- Performance of a physical activity
- Cultural values and the impact they have on physical activity.

Level 2 Physical Education (7PED)
Prerequisites
Students choosing this course will need to have demonstrated enthusiasm and full participation in Year 9 and 10 Health and Physical Education Courses (5AHPE and 5APEP). Students must be prepared to participate in both theory and practical elements of this course. Students must be willing and eager to participate in practical activities.
