Why this course:
Geography is about discovering the beauty and complexity of the natural and cultural world. This is a dynamic subject that takes a contemporary approach to relevant and significant issues for people and environments today and in the future.
Geography at this level allows students to develop skills which enable them to:
- Research geographic issues in depth
- Identify global patterns, perspective and interactions between people and places
- Explore environments that have been shaped by natural and cultural processes.
- Apply concepts and geographic skills to local, regional and global contexts
Course information:
Students will explore:
- Rivers, in relation to the local 12-mile river.
- Global population issues that affect people and places.
- How environments have been shaped by natural disasters.
- Tectonic and climatic processes that impact our local environment.
This course leads to:
Level 2 Geography (7GEO) and/or Level 2 Tourism (7TOU).
Prerequisites
Satisfactory completion of 5ASOC1 is recommended.
Equipment and Stationery
There will be field trips associated with this course. Field trips are focused on primary data collection which is required for internal assessments. The cost associated with these trips will be communicated when they are known.
